The concept of ABET is uniquely South African. In the English-speaking world, ABE means Adult Basic Education.

You can still study further with your GETC: ABET level 4 qualification. With it, you qualify to study matric courses for adults, granted you are 21 years and older.

How much does ABET cost?

The average cost for the completion of one of the ABET training levels ranges from R1400 to R1800 a learner. This also of course includes the lectures, hands-on classes, work material and more.

How long does it take to study for ABET?

It takes on average 4 to 6 hours a week and can be completed in 6 to 10 months. As such learners will not have to spend years to complete the various levels of ABET learning programs and if the learners have more time available they will be able to complete the various levels quicker.
