What does SPCA stand for in SA?

To end animal cruelty in South Africa and to engender compassion for all animals. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals – SPCA ‘for short’ – aims to protect all animals from cruelty, neglect and ill treatment that often results from ignorance of animals and their needs.

What does SPCA do?

The SPCA is responsible for protecting and caring for abandoned animals, preventing cruelty to animals and spreading awareness of animal care. In many rural communities where people do not have access to animal clinics, there is a problem of over-population of pets, stray animals, abuse and disease.

Can I give my dog to SPCA?

The SPCA is willing to accept ALL unwanted animals of any size and species. We wish to assure the public that they should not be afraid to surrender pets for whatever reason.

What animals do SPCA help?

SPCA stands for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. This means any animal, whether it is a dog, cat, bird, reptile, horse, cow, sheep or goat.
