Parkrun is a collection of 5-kilometre events for walkers, runners and volunteers that take place every Saturday morning at more than 2,000 locations in 22 countries across six continents. Parkrun was founded by Paul Sinton-Hewitt on 2 October 2004 at Bushy Park in London, England.

How many parkruns are there in South Africa?
Where is parkrun? There are currently 200 parkrun events around the country taking place every weekend, with more locations being added all of the time.
Are parkruns exactly 5km?
Each event website makes the point that the parkruns are measured accurately: “The course is 5000m (5K) long. This has been accurately measured by us with a professional measuring wheel.”
Does parkrun barcode work on phone?
Can I bring my barcode on my smartphone or watch instead of printing it? Yes. However, we continue to encourage you to have a printed barcode and to carry it with you when you come along to parkrun.
Do people walk at parkrun?
Everyone is welcome at parkrun.
parkrun is a running, jogging and/or walking event. No matter how fast or slow you are we are just delighted to see you taking part.
